Cooking With Bae: Crispy & Spicy Veg Manchurian From SauraBhavna’s Kitchen

It’s not just about having meals together but also about cooking and preparing the meal together. As a part . of our weekend special date we decided rather than eating out and ordering takeaways we will do some cooking experiments together.

As per the plan, this weekend we prepared the cabbage Manchurian with fried rice. It’s a very famous Indo Chinese cuisine and one of the most loved street food, which comes both in gravy and dry version and yes! very easy to make too. It tastes great when served with veg hot and sour soup or fried rice.

The recipe for the dish will be prepared in 2 parts. First part will be about preparation of manchurian balls and the other part will be about preparation of manchurian sauce.

So here we begin…

Veg Manchurian Balls

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • finely chopped spring onions
  • 3 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp plain flour (maida)
  • 2 tsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • oil for deep-frying

Method:

Step 1: Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix them well

Step 2: Make round balls of equal size and portion

Step 3: Heat the oil and deep-fry the balls on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all sides.

Step 4: Drain them in a basket with an absorbent paper and keep them aside.

Manchurian Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp finely chopped garlic
  • 2 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp chopped spring onions
  • 1 tbsp chopped capsicum
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornflour dissolved in 1 cup of water
  • 2 pinches of sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped spring onion greens

Method:

Step 1: Heat the oil

Step 2: Once the oil is heated enough to smoke add the garlic, ginger, onions and capsicum and sauté on a high flame for a few seconds.

Step 3: Add 1 cup of water, soya sauce, cornflour paste, pepper, sugar, salt and spring onion greens and mix all well.

Step 4: Simmer till the sauce thickens.

Step 5: And now, Just before serving, add the manchurian balls to the sauce and heat for a while on medium flame.

Serving the dish:

Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot with vegetable fried rice.

Now you both can divide the roles and decide who will do what… enjoy your fun cooking date at home …
