Monday Blues???

It’s not just about the tough Monday, I think bad mood doesn’t check a calendar and strikes anytime. We all have down days when nothing appears to be right. We feel lost, sad and clueless. Many of us at this very moment must be going through a low phase and trust me I know that not all problems have an instant solution. Things take time and life has it’s own pace. And also, sometimes for no particular reason, we find ourselves clutched into sad feelings. It doesn’t really matter what it is, we just need a mood shift! Don’t isolate yourself, don’t build those walls and don’t give these down moments any chance to break you. In these depressed and unmotivated pauses give yourself an Instant Boost of positivity.

Below you will find a list of a few of my favourite instant pick-me-ups that will help you through your tough day. At least one of them will work for you, I’m quite sure!!!

MAKE UP YOUR MIND

Just cribbing and complaining won’t take you anywhere. Firstly you have to accept your present only then you can be well prepared for the future. You should be really determined that you won’t let any negativity affect you. Make up your mind that you will put efforts to be better.

EXERCISE

Exercise releases feel-good hormones ‘endorphin’. Many studies have revealed that it’s equally beneficial as anti-depressants. Pick your simple single workout or you can simply go out for a run. Stretch & Sweat it all out.

GO OUTSIDE

Visit your favourite place. Take a walk in the park. Get some sun. Play with kids in the street. Go to your favourite library or a coffee shop.

DECLUTTER

Decluttering means removing unnecessary items. We all need to declutter our home and heart. De-cluttering your physical space can have an amazingly uplifting effect on your mood. Similarly, we need mental and emotional decluttering that blocks the flow of energy in our lives.

EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY

Indulge in your hobbies and passion. Do your DIY crafts, write, dance or sing anything that soothes your creative urge. Take a small break and paint your happy moments.

A SMALL HAPPY TREAT

Eat your favourite chocolate or an ice cream. Too much can be really unhealthy that’s why I suggest a tiny treat. Sit on your couch or snug up in your bed and enjoy your delicious moment with your favourite movie or a good book.

MUSIC & MOVIES

Play the most uplifting tune, and get totally absorbed in that. Tap your feet, sing along, and start dancing to the beat. Watch a good and funny movie. And yes, avoid listening to or watching anything that deepens your sad emotions, choose something that uplifts and energises you.

FLOWERS & PLANTS

Indeed it’s a feel-good factor to receive flowers but today, show some self-love and buy yourself flowers. Flowers are the best instant pick-me-up. Visit a nursery, buy a plant and bring it home. Nurture it and watch it bloom.

Read a happy and motivational quote and try to embrace it. Read a book or a blog and get charged up.

PET A PET

Be it yours or someone else’s you can surely reap the benefits of a good snuggle with a pet. Numerous studies have proven this fact that pet can eliminate stress and help you improve your overall well-being.

SPA & SALON

Call and book your appointments. Get an uplifting massage from head to toe, to help you shake off a bad mood. Rejuvenate yourself. Give yourself a glow or a new haircut.

PAMPER YOURSELF AT HOME

If you don’t have to spend big bugs just create a spa at home. Light some candles, spray your favourite fragrance, put some music in the background and take a bath with epsom salts. Prepare your DIY beauty products. Treat your skin and hair.

PUT THAT LIPSTICK ON

A perfect cure for the day. I truly believe a great lipstick colour can boost your confidence and uplift your mood. Just get your favourite shade out and go on to rule the world.

Lift your spirits with a spritz. Kate Fox, Director of Social Issues Research Centre, said in The Smell Report,“The thought of pleasant fragrances may be enough to make us a bit more cheerful, but the actual smell can have dramatic effects in improving our mood and sense of well-being.”

Treat yourself to a pretty new makeup or a new dress. Get some retail therapy. To avoid spending a fortune, set a limit, take a fixed amount and then go shopping.

Smile, take a few deep breaths and feel grateful for all the beautiful things you are blessed with in life. Slow things down and observe your life. Try to be in the present moment.
